In sisterhood

Geeti and Jaya have been friends and neighbours since they were new brides in their late teens.
They have seen each other through widowhood,( Geeti was widowed in late twenties, and Jaya at forty) the births, marriages and and sadly, deaths of children, have nursed each other and each others children through dengue, cholera and dysentery, and have fought two big fires in their settllement together, one in 1982, and another in 2001.

They fight sometimes, Jaya (on the left) is the fiery one, while Geeti's character is more serene ("she is like a cow" Jaya added)

They were so affectionate and playful with each other. I hope they continue to each each others friendship and support for many years to come.
