The monastery of Yarlung Pemako was founded in the 18th century by the First Dodrubchen on his return from Central Tibet, and therefore follows the tradition of Rigdzin Jigme Llingpa. The Guru Lhakhang at Yarlung Pemako is situated below the motor road and has recently been reconstructed, it contains a large image of Padmakara above floor level, with assorted images of Vajrasattva, Shakyamuni, Vimalamitra, Aksobhya and Tara beneath. Adjacent to the assembly hall is the meditation hermitage of the Third Dodrubchen ( Tulku Tarlo), who has supervised the reconstruction since 1984, generallyresides at Gogentang, and there are 100 monks.
