Surma tribe child with flowering plants - Turgit Ethiopia

This child is from a encampment of Turgit, one of a nicest place in Surma territory, in a south of Ethiopia, near a sudanese border.. The access is distant from Addis Ababa, but once in a encampment we can share a real hold up of a Surma / Suri tribe. Kids are really penetrating on decorating themselves with plants, flowers, fruits...anything with splendid colours!

Situated in the foothills of the Carneddau mountain range in a steep sided valley on the Coedydd Aber Nature Reserve near to the village of Abergwyngregyn. The Afon Goch plunges over an escarpment one hundred and twenty feet high into a marshy area where it is joined by two tributaries; the enlarged stream, Afon Rhaeadr Fawr, heads towards the Menai Strait where it joins the sea. Part of the way way down it becomes Afon Aber Garth Celyn, more recently known as Afon Aber. Torrential after a storm, in winter Aber Falls can freeze enough to attract ice climbers. To reach the falls involves a walk of around a mile up a gently ascending path. The plentiful spray from the waterfall has encouraged the growth of plants such as wild angelica and lady's mantle, which thrive in the rock crevices around the fall. retlaw snellac posted a photo: Kho Mu tribal woman. The Kho Mu still live a nomadic lifestyle. Their houses are built with temporary and rudimentary materials and have very little furniture. The husband must live with his wife's family for one year after marriage. Marriage between the same lineages is strictly forbidden. The Kho Mu believe in the existence of spirits. The heavens, the sound of thunder, the earth, the forests, and the field are all assisted by spirits. The worshipping of spirits of the village and of ancestors is very common. They also pray for bumper harvests and good annual production. The Kho Mu language belongs to the Mon-Khmer Group. A rich heritage of tradition and culture can be found in this ethnic group. The garments of the Kho Mu resemble the Thai group, but the women's ornaments are unique to this group. The Kho Mu live on slash-and-burn cultivation, hunting, and gathering. Basketry is also a very developed skill among the members of this group.
